how to connect mysql to openoffice

hello there,
i have openoffice 2 and the myodbc java driver installed, but i cannot seem to connect the two together.

i dont even know where on my system the odbc driver got installed.
anyone know of a link to a how-to to get me started here?

You asked the question in February, maybe solved, but for other users with similar issue this what I did.
I was searching for MySQL, ODBC with OpenOffice, and find a helpful page in Arch Wiki.
