Get back into your system with chroot from a different boot media.  Then look at you logs for some clues.  Also, those logs will tell you what you updated.

Irrespective of your competence, you are expected to do some research before posting, Newbie Corner or not:

Re: Arch won't boot after update and force shutdown because of freeze

Okay guys smile so I have done some research and what I think I need to do is get into chroot and from what I have gathered chroot (correct me if i'm wrong) simulates the real computers terminal from a live Arch or other distro's cd with chroot installed on it? So I would do mount /dev/sda3 /mnt, as sda3 is my home folder, wait nope some more research says I need to do mount /dev/sda1 /mnt then /dev/sda3 /mnt/home then do arch-chroot /mnt. Now it shows sh-4.3 and a command blinker thing. I am stuck on what to do now tongue

Re: Arch won't boot after update and force shutdown because of freeze

The wiki page makes it pretty clear: once you are in the chroot (and your prompt suggests that you are) you perform the system maintenance/debugging just as if you were in your standard environment:

  • look in pacman's log for what packages were updated (check for .pacnew files)

  • look in the journal for any errors

  • post the output of `uname -a`

  • post details of how you normally boot

  • etc, etc...
