[SOLVED] No logs

Why does my install have no message, auth, cron, or boot logs?  Am I missing installing something?

[root@MacBook log]# ls
btmp	 gdm	journal  old	     samba		wtmp
faillog  httpd	lastlog  pacman.log  speech-dispatcher
[root@MacBook log]#
