Synaptics touchpad - cursor movement not smooth

Hi,

when using touchpad the cursor moves for minimum of about 5 pixels at a time in any direction. It feels somewhat jumpy and looses precision, often resulting in misclicks and rendering Gimp, for instance, unusable with touchpad.

Got a new Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 10, Pentium N3520 model, running latest Arch installation with Xfce, but it's (probably) not a DE-related issue as it manifests in lxdm login screen as well.

I've been through various combinations of synaptics driver options (both via xorg.conf and synclient), namely speed, acceleration, etc., to no avail. Didn't try an external mouse, have no one around now, though the laptop has an ELAN touchscreen which seems to be smooth enough (judging by line smoothness drawn in Gimp by hand).

The touchpad is detected as:

psmouse serio1: synaptics: Touchpad model: 1, fw: 8.1, id:0x1e2b1, caps: 0xd00123/0x840300/0x126800, board id: 2901, fw id: 1509176

What I missed?
