Run a command on laptop lid open?

Where do we begin to look for information regarding running commands on events, specifically running a command when the laptops lid is opened?
Not sure what to search for.

The old rc.conf contributed to my initial gravitation towards arch, I enjoyed the simplicity and clarity of autostarting modules and I'd value a counterpart regarding events.
Mounting, usb connect events, power connected, headphones etc.

Anyways, that's a tanget, I'm primarilly interested in running a command on opening laptop lid.
Where do we put these sort of triggers?

You need to look into acpid.  To use it, however, you will need to edit /etc/systemd/logind.conf to cause systemd to ignore the lid.
