Hello,
I'm trying to automount removable media on my USB 3.0 port such as a portable external harddrive or a USB stick. In order to do so, I have simply added this to my fstab:
/dev/sdb1 /mnt auto nofail,x-systemd.device-timeout=2s,noauto,x-systemd.automount 0 0
I can plug in my harddrive, and it will be automatically mounted when I access /mnt, just as I want. However, when nothing is plugged into the USB port, and I try to access /mnt, the 'cd' command hangs. It lasts longer than 2 seconds. I must Ctrl+C in order to kill the 'cd' command. This has the effect of making any program hang, such as ranger or libreoffice that tries to access the /mnt folder when nothing is plugged into the USB port. Why is this happening?
Thanks in advance!
