Hello,
I use Linphone under Ubuntu fine but under Arch I have distorted / crackling sound.
I have a very minimal Arch system. i3 firefox and a few apps. No login manager etc. I have pulseaudio installed, working fine for all other sound except audacity. When playing back sound recorded in audacity it plays back really quickly but is fine when exporting.
I've read through the whole wiki page for pulseaudio but could see anything relevant. Google I only found one thing (Which hasn't fixed it after reboot) adding "tsched=0" to /etc/pulse/default.pa
load-module module-udev-detect tsched=0
I had this problem last time I installed Arch 3 or 4 months ago and just ended up going back to Ubuntu. I figure as this hasnt been fixed it must be a config issue, kernel driver or something.
How can I try diagnose this problem?
What log files sould I look at and what for?
Are their any config files I should look at?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Try those:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pu … PulseAudio
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pu … _recording
Instead of arecord you can use speaker-test, the procedure should be analog.
As for audacity, this is most probably a sampling frequency issue. Check audacities settings.
