maybe auto config kernel?

when I install AL from cd-rom disk, i want compile from src (that is ok with AL now).
But I will happier if when i choose compile from src, AL will auto detect my hardware and generate a config file with basic element & my hardware device(because i am not guru about hardware).
does That can? now,

Your happiness will be short lasting if you get a new hardware next week or later, and you have to re-compile the kernel again smile, trust me. Moreover, its not possible to design such auto detect.

I recommend you to first use AL's standard kernel. If it is not compatible will all your hardwares, ask for support on this forum. If these don't work, then try AL-AMLUG Live CD's kernel config based on Knoppix's kernel designed for maximum number of hardwares. Most of the configs are modules. It may take one hour or more to compile (depending on your machine).
