I also noticed this today. The first three times I tried to boot x86_64 it panicked. Then I tried i686 and HDT (they worked fine), and since then x86_64 has also booted succesfully. I have no idea why this would happen. EDIT: Actually, I did do something different. Try adding more memory (e.g. -m 512).
