Unresponsive black screen if left unattended

I often get a black screen after a while if I leave the computer alone. In this state no key binding ever works. I am forced to do a hard reboot every time this happens.

I believe this is related to an error I get sometimes after booting.

Checking with `journalctl -b | grep ERROR`:

 sep 02 18:14:22 mayan kernel: [drm:i9xx_check_fifo_underruns] *ERROR* pipe A underrun 

Also, keybinding `Alt+SysRq+REISUB` doesn't work even in a normal state, even after doing `sysctl kernel.sysrq=1` or `echo "1" > /proc/sys/kernel/sysrq` as suggested by wiki. Actually it works the first time, but not after the next boot.
