[SOLVED] cfdisk doesnt ask for alignment

man cfdisk wrote:

If the partition fills the free space available, the partition is created and you are returned to the main command line. Otherwise, the partition can be created at the beginning or the end of the free space, and cfdisk will ask you to choose where to place the partition.

But when I create a new dos partition, I am not being asked if i want the partition to be created at the end or beginning.
I'm using the newest arch install disk "2014.09.03".

Edit: By using "2014.08.01" disk it was possible to solve the problem. So i guess it isn't an arch issue but rather a cfdisk issue.

Re: [SOLVED] cfdisk doesnt ask for alignment

You're far better served by using gdisk or cgdisk (pacman -S gptfdsisk) because the original cfdisk was created in the 1990s IIRC and doesn't know a damned thing about (what are today) standard settings used in the manufacture of hard disks.  It also hates SSDs from what I've read.

Mark this as solved, if your work-around suffices, please.  smile
