Using EXA acceleration on a radeon 7870

Glamor is unstable and often kills xorg and firefox when I use it. I tried creating /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-radeon.conf :

Section "Device"
  Identifier "hd_7870"
  Driver "radeon"
  Option "AccelMethod" "EXA"
  Option "EXAVSync" "off"
  Option "EXAPixmaps" "on"
  Option "AccelDFS" "on"
EndSection

But in Xorg.0.log I see:

[ 2820.802] (WW) RADEON(0): Direct rendering disabled
[ 2820.802] (II) RADEON(0): Acceleration disabled
[ 2820.802] (WW) RADEON(0): Option "AccelMethod" is not used

Also games are extremely slow, but firefox is once again rock solid. Is it possible to use EXA on a 7870?

Glamor is required for GCN cards if you want to use the FOSS driver. EXA doesn't work with your graphics card.

That's too bad. Do you know if I can use xinit to pass xorg options like noaccel? I am thinking of a workaround...
