Custom 2.6.15-archck3.2 and udev 084-3 - no CD-ROM

I rolled my own archck3.2 a couple of days ago, so I'd be ready for the new udev setup when it hit current i.e. today. Everything is working fine, except for my CD-ROM. The ide_cd module was not loaded, so there's no /dev/hdc device, or /dev/cdrom symlink.

I can put it in the MODULES array for the moment, of course, but I'm posting this for anyone else in a similar position, and for iphitus to look at, if he's around.

OK - now that the archck kernel has been updated in [community], I can see what's going on. iphitus originally rolled the uevent patch into 3.2, but then took it out again, and applied it separately - I'll just go off and do the same myself now.

So I'm not quite as well prepared as I thought........:P

Are you sure you've done this: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?p=141586#141586
?

(haven't updated myself, I'm following up the updates during exams)

Thanks Ice.

I'm not sure which part of that thread you're referring to, but I have read the announcement, and the only relevant aspect for my overall setup is the removal of OSS stuff from modprobe.conf, which doesn't have any bearing on my CD-ROM problem.

No, I'm pretty sure applying the uevent patch will do the trick - the new kernel has just finished compiling, so I'll know very shortly.

tomk I have had this problem for a while now and iphitus said he will look at it. How ever i just did a pacman -Syu, restarted my PC and still cdrom is not working. It works however in the stock kernel.  :?

hmm

my CD-Rom is working.
The only thing what is not working, is Nero-Linux, K3b and the drives are not available in VMWare.

Well, I'm all sorted now. The patch worked, as I expected.

napoleon, are you sure you got the latest version of the archck package - 2.6.15.archck3.2-1?

It'll work in archck4 which I will upload tonight. I added the patch to the last one, but it turns out it needs a config option too, my bad.

But..there is no other ide-** modul in this as it was in the auto image.
