Pink Line

Goodmorning! (or any other time you might prefer)

I have recently installed arch linux and as i'm not using xorg for the time being, i noticed this pesky pink line in the left corner of the screen of the tty and it even persists in wayland/weston.

I have a hdmi monitor, with a nvidia gpu and noveau drivers for the wayland enviroment, however the line was present from the start. Is there any remedy to this sickness?

Re: Pink Line

Sounds more like a problem with the hardware than anything software related. If it even persists on a pure TTY console, without any display manager involved, maybe the monitor has a defect.

You could also just try another cable.

Re: Pink Line

Well it cannot be, because i had this problem in the past (edit: actually i think it was with arch linux also), however on other countless occasions, when i ran front-end enviroments like gnome3, there was never any hint of this pink line.

Re: Pink Line

Well, this is odd, after playing around with some graphic tools in weston, the line disappeared system wide... And then it comes back after reboot.

Re: Pink Line

yup, that's a hardware problem. it probably means that solder is loose somewhere along the journey between graphics card and lcd.

Re: Pink Line

Is the line visible during BIOS/UEFI initialization? Boot with different vesa resolutions. There is only a small probability a hardware problem would be influenced by software changes. Can you rule out gpu/lcd failure with another machine? Double check the connecting cable, turn it around, check its contacts and those of the sockets as well.
