Laptop randomly goes on standby.

I've got this for a while now.
Every once a while my laptop randomly goes in stand by.

One time it even shut down.

I think you might want to give is some more information.  Are you running X? What window manager? Anything in the logs? What processor? Make and model of the computer?
Laptop mode tools? ACPI?

Is this happening when you leave the computer idle? If so, then it may be due to "Display Power Management Settings" (DPMS) which are automatic.  You can turn DPMS off completely by adding the following to your startup routine:

xset -dpms; xset s off &

Otherwise, it can also be configured to your liking, as outlined here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Di … _Signaling

Otherwise, if you laptop is shutting down while active, then this could be a safety feature due to overheating...
