Recover ext4 files

Well, I just did something real stupid. I mistakenly ran mkfs.ext4 on a partition. I realized exactly what I did and have unmounted the partition so that nothing gets written to it. Is there any way to recover those files. I don't have a backup as I was not planning on formatting that specific partition, so hopefully there is someway to restore the files.

Have a look at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/File_recovery , maybe there's something that can help you.

It doesn't work like this. If you don't buy an insurance because you didn't plan on getting sick or having a fire in your house, you're in trouble.
You back up stuff that's important, files you don't want to lose.
