I'm trying to setup an FTP with multiple accounts so different users can drop their files on their respective folders like so:
/storage/FTP/user1
/storage/FTP/user2
/storage/FTP/user3
...
So, their home directory will always be /storage/userX
They are chrooted, so they can't go to the upper level, meaning, each FTP user only see their files.
So far, so good: The FTP works and to ease things up, I use webmin to create the accounts.
Now, I have to access the folder /storage/FTP/ from the local network with a generic user, so I can browse everything the users drop there; inside their respective folders. Well, browse and basically have total control, letting me erase files, move, create, etc....
I'll access from Mac and Windows machines, so I was trying to go for a samba setup, rather than create a ftp user and set its home directory to /storage/FTP: This gives me permission issues.
I want to ask, from your point of view, which is the best way to solve this? (Samba solution preferred)
Which permissions should each folder have?
Thanks
