Connecting to a Wireless network with a captive portal

Hi, I'm installing Arch linux right now
but I can't seem to download the base and base-devel properly
here's my situation :

I tried to connect to a dorm room Wireless high-speed internet but it requires a web browser to login via captive portal to be able to access the internet
there's no GUI browser in Arch linux installation

so I tried a free slow (but usable) Wireless network but it keeps telling me :
'error : failed retrieving file ...' and the installation cannot continue but downloading random files through wget works perfectly so I know that it's not about the internet connection

Now I'm using an Android hotspot but it's SUPER slow (5-10 KB/s)

Is there any way to solve this? like a way to log into captive portal via terminal without GUI browser

Thank you very much

Re: Connecting to a Wireless network with a captive portal

the install iso should have a text mode browser available, but i don't remember which one.

try starting

links

.
If that one isn't found,   try lynx  and/or elinks .

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

Re: Connecting to a Wireless network with a captive portal

I think many of those portals work based on MAC addresses.  At least the one here does.  Once you validate it is typically valid for 12-24 hours or such.  If the text mode browsers don't work some reason try inserting a distro live CD and validating, then try the install again.
