After a 3 weeks of fighting my alsa drivers trying to get sound on my system, I've mostly given up. I've tried everything that I could find on google, this site and the support/forum sites of a few other distros. At this point, I just want to remove all sound-related packages from my system and reinstall them. What can i do (short of a clean reinstall) to completely remove all alsa-related software from my system?
I've already removed alsa-tools, alsa-utils, lib32-alsa-lib, alsa-lib and lib32-alsa-plugins.

If you suspect something is up with the audio system, why not do a clean install on a small partition and test it as us h's? Or even the live cd would work. In other words, rule out a hardware issue if possible starting from a known good point.
