Getting Lower FPS with NVIDIA Card On Optimus Laptop

Hello, I downloaded Counter Strike: Global Offensive from native Steam and I noticed my FPS was very low with both of my cards.(I can smoothly run heavier games on Windows) After I used glxgears to see FPS difference between them:
I am using Property Nvidia drivers.

$: vblank_mode=0 optirun glxgears
6377 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1275.203 FPS
6516 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1302.971 FPS
6554 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1310.640 FPS
6522 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1304.303 FPS
$: vblank_mode=0 primusrun glxgears

Most linux games don't have the same performance on Windows unfortunately.

Do you run Steam with primusrun too? It could also be that your graphics settings for Counter Strike: Global Offensive are set too high.

Re: Getting Lower FPS with NVIDIA Card On Optimus Laptop

both optirun and primusrun use your nvidia card. Try glxgears without them to see the result for the intel gpu.
And in most cases using primus is faster than optirun (and both are faster than intel..)

I put at button on it. Yes. I wish to press it, but I'm not sure what will happen if I do.  (Gune | Titan A.E.)

Re: Getting Lower FPS with NVIDIA Card On Optimus Laptop

Something I've been experiencing is that using my NVIDIA card (520M) leads to massive overheating. The 520M does not have an active cooler. Because of the overheating the CPU downclocks itself, which means a lot of lag in most games... sad
