FM freezes when copying stuff to the network

Hi there!
I have a NAS which I mount over wifi using fstab with smb (cifs). I then use Nemo (or any other gnome-based file manager, and it also happens on Thunar) to Copy-Paste a local file (e.g. 6GB) from my local disk to the NAS. The upspeed is about 2.5 MB/s which means that the copy takes a while. Now, if I use that same FM (another window though) to browse a completele different folder on the disk and, say, open a pdf with double-click, the FM sometimes freezes for an undefined time. Usually several minutes or even an hour. The disk is perfectly accessible from any other program during that time, so it can't be its fault. It seems like the FM is waiting for something that doesn't happen for a long time. The problem gets solved at latest when the copy progress is completed, sometimes earlier.
Note (this may be a related problem): The copy progress jumps extremely fast to 2-3 GB comleted, indicating a speed of several hundred MB/s which then slowly decreases to reach the actual average uprate by then end of the copy progress. Maybe the data is copied SSD -> RAM cache superfast and then transferred by the kernel to the actual network?
Sorry if this description is confusing, I have absolutely no clue what I'm talking about ;-)
Cheers,
Kalsan
