markdown support

Any possibility that we can have markdown support in this forum (bbs.archlinux.org)? Typing opening and closing tags has made me tired. Hope there's a markdown option.

Re: markdown support

We run vanilla FluxBB: if they implement it upstream, it will show up here...

From its name this doesn't seem very likely, though it should just be a text converter and the markdown tool is mature. FluxBB have plugins but I'm not sure whether they have any interest supporting markdown.

If it's called fluxDownDown then I guess we have a higher chance.

Re: markdown support

Looks cool. In this case probably we need to do some more with quotes, though.

Re: markdown support

I call my editor (vim) from my web browser (firefox), so I can use any macros / abbreviations etc. available for that editor.

But when you quote then FluxBB already puts the quoted text (which is BBCode) in the textfield. Maybe it's possible to customize the macro a little bit so that it considers existing BBCode. I don't think it's easy to be 100% compatible but probably enough for everyday use.
