[ In KDE "System Settings" => "Display and Monitor" => "Size & Orientation" under "Primary Output" was selected "None" I changed it to "HDMI1" and system boots normally. Thank you all.]
Hello Everybody,
my first post after searching, reading and trying... hopefully in the right section too.
On cold boot (over night or hours of system being off) after Gummiboot starts the usual and i can see things loading for a sec the message on the screen "No Signal" appears and monitor goes off. I can restart, logout etc - system is up running. Nothing would bring monitor to life. Sometimes it kicks in after a reboot but more often several reboots are required. Monitor is connected via HDMI (Windows 8.1 boots with no issues) and Intel Graphics 4600 ( i7-4770K) is used. I tried disabling KMS as well as to load Intel Graphics 1st with Kernel Options as read in Wiki (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ke … de_setting). I'm using KDE (selective).
Many thanks for help and ideas.

When did this start? Was it after you changed or updated something?
When something should obviously work but suddenly doesn't work I usually start thinking it's a hardware problem.
It could be a flaky video card, montor, or even just the cable.
Do you ALWAYS see the BIOS when booting? (Or whatever "BIOS" is called nowadays.)

It sounds to me like flaky hardware, and Windows is more permissive/patient/forgiving when first trying to determine the presence/details of the monitor. On the h/w side, try a different cable and monitor if possible. On the Linux side, I can't think of much except checking the journal and dmesg.

Thank you for reply, drcouzelis,
It didn't start. It's been here since i "switched" to Arch. I'm new to Linux and been using Kubuntu for a while. I DID see the "No Signal" message there too but the environment always recovered after a few seconds there. It seems to me that it's a particular Intel Graphics driver issue cause often times some settings (like dashboard widget positions as well as some menus positions) are displaced.

Thanks for reply, alphaniner,
I really can't think of faulty hardware here being the cause. I tried other OSes with no issues. It's a ViewSonic screen. It DOES start after "several" reboots (to mention is the fact that if i go into BIOS menu BEFORE loading Linux on cold boot it starts right away. That's why i believe it's an Intel Graphics driver messing up).

It definitely seems like the driver is behaving differently in Arch than elsewhere. But if the cold-booting is really a factor then there must be a hardware issue somewhere: some component seems to be behaving differently depending on the 'boot temperature'.
