Hello,
I upgraded on 17. October.
The upgrade included cinnamon (2.2.16-1 -> 2.2.16-2), cinnamon-desktop (2.2.3-1 -> 2.2.3-2), cinnamon-session (2.2.2-1 -> 2.2.2-2), gtk3, gsettings-desktop-schemas, glib-networking, gtk2, clutter, clutter-gtk, gnome-desktop, nemo, gnome-common, and lots of other gnome-packages.
What happens when I try to login (lightdm) is, that the background-wallpaper appears, but that's it. (no panel, no icons, no nothing, just the plain wallpaper)
I downgraded cinnamon, cinnamon-desktop and cinnamon-session to the versions before, but that didn't fix the issue.
This lead me to the conclusion, that some of the new gnome-packages could have caused it.
Does someone else fight with that or a similar problem?
Can someone help, or is there someone with an idea how to fix it?
Thankfully,
Kopfweh

Oh man, seriously!
I had the infinality-bundle installed for better font rendering.
Reinstalling the original native system font rendering stuff with the command...
pacman -S --asdeps freetype2 cairo fontconfig
...found in this thread...:

...solved the issue for me.
The only sad thing is that I now have weird font rendering again.
