I just installed plasma-next, and I found that the new plasma5 session mirrors my two monitors.
In order to make dual monitors work as "extends", I went to the `System Settings` when I found there's no such option. With KDE4 I remembered monitor-related options are in `Display and Monitor`; but with KDE5, the only two sub-categories on the left panels are "Compositor" and "Screen Locking".
What's worse, I can't even find options to set resolution. It seems the KDE5 version of "System Settings" doesn't have monitor options. I also searched KDE bugs and didn't find anything.
Any ideas?

You must install kscreen-frameworks-git from AUR to use kscreen as it was in KDE4. Beware; it's still in developpement.... (as plasma 5 is)

It works. Thank you.

For me it appears in systemsettings, but says "shared library not found". I have tried installing
extra/libkscreen-frameworks
aur/libkscreen-frameworks-git
each, but it doesn't help... Am I missing something?
edit: I had extra-cmake-modules-git installed. Via irc log (http://irclogs.ubuntu.com/2014/08/27/%2 … -devel.txt) I found out that some paths have changed. with extra-cmake-modules from extra it worked. Sorry.

Most likely:
aur/kscreen-frameworks-git (not lib~.......)
Less likely:
I installed the whole `plasma-next` group, maybe you didn't install them all? Also check `kf5`, and `kf5-aids`.
Good luck.

I did need kscreen-frameworks-git from AUR for multi display functionality. Whatever's in extra work fine otherwise (monitors options are there) for single display.

Uhm if I install the packages from AUR now, KDE fails to start, because the package generates libKF5Screen.so.6 while plasmashell is built against libKFS5creen.so.5... Is there any other way to have multidisplay settings with plasma-next?

The updated AUR version also broke my plasma 5.
I had to reinstall the stable version, and used the xrandr tool for configuring monitors.
There is a wiki page about xrandr.

You will have to rebuild plasmashell against the new library.

You will have to rebuild plasmashell against the new library.
It's not that easy, there are API changes so plasma 5.1 won't build againt the new libkscreen. I'll try to package an older snapshot later for Plasma 5.1 users.

I didn't say it was easy, just that that's what would have to be done.

Done: you can now use kscreen-frameworks with Plasma 5.1
