Fn keys have to be pressed multiple times after suspend

Hi, I'm having some problems with my Fn keys and I can't even start to pin-point this to a specific component. Any help would be appreciated.

After some suspend-resume cycles, some of my function keys have to be pressed multiple times in order to work.

Example:
Fn + Esc is bound to mute/unmute.
after a few suspend-resume cycles, I have to press Fn + Esc and then Fn Fn Fn Fn for the sound to be finally muted/unmuted. This gets worse with the number of suspends. The count right now is 7 Fn key presses.. =)

This happens with mute(Fn+Esc), screenlock(Fn+F1), brightness up and down(Fn+F6,F7), but does _not_ happen with volume up and down(Fn+3,4) and numlock(Fn+F11). The other Fn keys are not configured.

I realize this is very similar to https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=159796, but I didn't want to enter in the whole brightness-control-in-laptops thread.

xev shows nothing on the first key presses. When the last one is performed it shows:

for Fn+Esc:

Arch with xfce4
The Fn keys (all of them) are configured through xfce's Keyboard Settings.
