flumotion user config, mount point?

Howdy, I'm back on Arch after an extended hiatus, and I'm setting up a flumotion server.  (for reference: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Flumotion)

Basically, I've got a headless HTPC with an internal SSD and an external media drive, and I want to set up streaming in addition to other network services.  Questions:

1. Should I set up a "media" user to run flumotion as?  what groups would this user need to be in?

2. Am I correct that best practice would be to mount the media drive somewhere under /mnt/ instead of as the media user's home directory?

3. Any reason to not umask=0000 the media drive?  Or to simplify access for my main login, would it suffice to add myself to the same group as the "media" user's primary group?

maybe these are dumb questions.  I appreciate the help.  I have been living in Mac hell and it's good to be back.

Re: flumotion user config, mount point?

in case someone stumbles across this, i created a media user and a media group, added myself to media, and set ACL to allow rwx for the media group.
