question about kernel.panic=n

When kernel.panic is set to an integer higher than 0, the kernel will reboot in case of panic after "n" seconds.
What i would like to know is if it tries to sync filesystems before going to reboot (that way o could have some useful log messages, right?) and if not, if there is a way to tell it to sync.
