Hello everybody i'm out traveling Izmir Turkey and before going i bought this litle eeepc and installd arch linux. Everything worked fine when i left Sweden and when i came to Turkey but after a few days it started to refuse to conect to wifi networks. First i found a work around by killing wicd and running it as root sometimes i also had to reboot. Then yesterday i was at a cafe whit an open network and it was impossible to connect to it and today i am at a resturang with a WPA2 network writing from my windows i'm dual booting. I have really tried to look for a solution on internet but i have not found any thing so now i'm asking you guys for help. If i am rely slow at answering it is because i liv in a getto whit no internet.
Yesterday after not being able to conect to internet on an open network i went home to a freind where i have used the internet before and agin it refused so i killed it and started it as root getting this message
usr/share/wicd/gtk/gui.py:458: Warning: Source ID 55 was not found when
attempting to remove it
After reboot it worked again
then today at the returang

Fore some reson on this network it thinks it is a bad password but both windows and my iphone can connect with the same password and yesterday there was no password so there was no bad password but no connection and "Source ID 58 was not found" pops up everytime. Thinking of it this problem first appered after i uesd aircrack-ng and reaver i don't know if it has anything to do with it.

It could be that a system update broke wicd. Have you tried recompiling it?
Since it is unmaintained, you might be better off switching to a different network daemon.

Yes i'm thinking that a switch would be for the best but faild to get networkmanager setup and instald corectly and the lack of any wired connection makes it so hard.

Does networkmanager also give you trouble for wired?
If it is only installing, you can always manually download nm from the mirror under windows and install it from your local disk. Setup should be a piece of cake by enabling networkmanager.service and disabling any wicd service etc.
Don't forget to install network manager applet for a gui.

Is only Arch the problem?
Have you tried to use netctl, wifi-menu ?
do it good first, it will be faster than do it twice the saint

I switched to networkmanager and at first it did not work ether but then tried to run it from terminal with nmcli and it worked. So it was only the GUI that for some reason was making trouble. A little messy not to have a user friendly interface but as true Linux poser i guess i have to en brace it. I’m marking this as solved now that my networkmanager worked 4/4 times i don’t think i will have any more trouble. Peace you guys
