PulseAudio - Problem with Volume Control

Hello,

I am trying to stream audio with ffmpeg and handling the audio via pulseaudio volume control. But ever since I plugged my USB-Headset, I only (!) can manage this headset. My speaker sound works fine but the volume control does not show any volume on the volume bar and nothing gets streamed.

Anyone knows what might be happening and how to fix it? I already tried killing the audio server and restarting, with no effect.
