Hi everyone,
Does anyone in the community know of a way to enable either wifi or bluetooth (or both, why not) before a user logs in (in graphical mode)?
I am trying to implement a mechanism that uses a second device to send the credentials to the computer and does the authentication that way, but I need to find a way for the second device to be able to communicate with the first one.
Any, insights on the security implications are also welcome.
Thanks for your help!

Hello Dan,
If you're using the default setup with netctl then the arch wiki is a great resource:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ne … _operation
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bl … stallation
I believe you will find the answer to both of your questions on those two pages.
Cheers

Those services should come up before you login... See your journal.
Not a Sysadmin issue, moving to NC.

the default setup with netctl
Just to clarify - netctl is one of a number of network management utilities available. It is not the default.
dan, what have you tried so far?

Thank you for your pointers in the right direction.
Well, I'm just starting with this idea of login into the system with a second device, but I wasn't quite sure if the connection could be established in the first place. In which case the whole idea would have been worthless.
Now that I know it is possible is when the fun begins and when I'll start messing about.
I knew the wiki would be helpful, but only when you know what you're looking for.
Thanks guys!
