I am looking to upgrade my current Video card, the card that currently occupies the slot is a GTX 260. This card is starting to get a little long in the tooth so to speak. The system at one time was an HP Pavilion media center PC that were all the rage at the time. The only thing left from the original system is the CPU, Motherboard, and maybe the power cord.
The main board is an Asus P5B that has been HP branded.
Now for the compatibility question. I beleive that this board is PCI Express 1.0. The intent is to move the card to an upgraded system that supports PCI Express 3.0 eventually. I would like to avoid doing the full upgrade for now though. The part that concerns me from the sellers site is this line. "PCI Express 3.0 (Compatible with 1.1)" on a few cards I have looked at. Note the Compatible with 1.1 not 1.0. ![]()
Does anyone have any suggestions for a video upgrade that is compatable with 1.0? One that supports wide vesa modes would be a bonus too!
I have listed the info from dmidecode that may be related to the question.

This board seems to use the P965 chipset which is speced to support PCIe 1.1.
And I'm not ever sure what's the difference between v1.0 and v1.1. FWIW, wikipedia says that v1.1 is just a minor update to v1.0 with no incompatible changes.
