Which JAVA version ?

As I can see arch has two open java versions (7&8) to officially support.
Why two? And which one of open JAVAs should I prefer?

Re: Which JAVA version ?

Install the latest version.

For what reason are you installing Java? If you are using an application that requires the older version then install the older version. smile

Re: Which JAVA version ?

ok. Thanks.
And one more question on subject.
What about closed-source Oracle's java? (which is jre from AUR)

Actually I should better use the Oracle's one since it is the only version to be supported by my corporate internet-banking service.
(btw here it is https://online.pumb.ua/biz/ )

But after that event: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topic … 96849.html
I think maybe (?) it IS better to use open-sourced java like jre8-openjdk.
I don't know.

Re: Which JAVA version ?

If your corporate internet-banking service only works with Oracle's Java then use Oracle's Java. (Did you try using the website with the open source Java?)

If you are concerned about security in Java, then don't use Java and just walk to the bank. wink
