Mplayer startup volume level set

Hi all, from mplayer wiki I know that running mplayer with "-volume 0" or "-af volume=-200" should mute mplayer on startup. I tried these two options with the version 37224-1 and up for x86_64 and it didn't work. I found that the last version with working initial sound level setting is 37051-2. I sent a bug report https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/41034.
I would like to ask you to test these two options for mplayer built for x86_64 and i686 on your machine and write your results here. My friend reported that he can set initial volume on i868 version of mplayer, but it's always good to double check. Thanks!

mplayer -af volume=-200 video_file
mplayer -volume 0 video_file

PS Please vote for this bug!

Re: Mplayer startup volume level set

mplayer | head -n 1
MPlayer SVN-r37224 (C) 2000-2014 MPlayer Team
uname -m
x86_64

This mutes the sound completely here.

mplayer -af volume=-50 file.mp3

This also mutes the sound.

mplayer -volume 0 file.mp3

Re: Mplayer startup volume level set

mplayer -volume 0 file.mp4

Mplayer start with sound at 0. The / and * keys can then adjust it.
