Hi,
I booted today and tadaaa, my font aliases aren't recognized anymore, system's using Liberation, fc-match $foo confirms that i.e. doesn't respond to the entries in font's.conf although this used to work since ever…
The only "fontish" upgrade I made last time was freetype2-infinality-ultimate and fontconfig-infinality-ultimate, but downgrading them doesn't seem to help.
I've absoloutely no clou where to start searching the bug/mistake… Any ideas?

Hi, I do not know if this is relevant to your particular issue, but since two versions ago, fontconfig-infinality-ultimate has moved its configuration file away from /etc/profile.d/infinality.settings.sh to /etc/X11/xinit/initrc.d/infinality-settings. That might have something to do with it.
Also, try moving your fonts.conf to ~/.fonts.conf. For as long as I can remember it has worked there.

Thanks for your answer, but ~/.fonts.conf isn't recognized either…
I took a look at /etc/X11/xinit/initrc.d/infinality-settings, but could that file affect this issue? These are afaics just some font settings…?

I am sure that you already have, but try reading this wiki page to see if you can glean any useful information. I have not ever configured font aliases that I know of, so I am not too knowledgeable of the problem. I think that some DE's set fonts by themselves and overrides custom settings, and that might contribute to your issue.
Anyway, since I cannot reproduce your problem, I don't think that I will be of much more help because I have laid everything out that I know as far as fonts go...
All the best.

Well, I appreciate your willingness to help, but as said before, it used to work till now with the user-specific fonts.conf, so the wiki's no further use here…
I should have mentioned that I got no DE, so that hardly might be an issue.
