Removable Media in KDE

I'm having a problem getting removable media to show up in KDE.  CDs work fine.  When I put my USB flash drive in, however, it doesn't pick up on it, and never shows it as removable media available to be mounted.  If the flash drive is attached when I power up the computer, it will show up, but as soon as I mount it and then unmount, I have to reboot to be able to see it again.  I start bot DBus and Hal at startup, but they seem not to be picking up on it.

Re: Removable Media in KDE

could you try the testing repo?
there is the new udev along with new initscripts that should fix it.
other fix would be to change the udev.rules rule according to this:
# never access removable ide devices, the drivers are causing event loops on open()
BUS=="ide", DRIVER!="ide-cdrom", SYSFS{block/removable}="1", GOTO="persistent_end"

Ok, I'll give the testing repo udev a shot.  Are you using it, and have you had luck with it in that respect?

Re: Removable Media in KDE

testing repo contains some fixes to udev,
and don't use just udev from testing repo all or nothing.
you could also try if modifying the rule i posted solves your problem.
search for the comment and then modify it to my suggestion.

Try adding the usb drive to /etc/fstab if you haven't, that worked for me when I had a similar problem a while ago.
