[Solved] Huawei E3272 USB modem installation

Hello,

I would like ask kindly if anyone has installed this modem successfully in Linux. It is supposed to be a hi-link modem, distributed by Megafon (M100-4) Revision: 21.436.11.01.209.

I'm using also an android phone and the only thing I have to do there is dhcpcd usb0.

But with this modem is different. At first it was recognized as storage, so I installed usb_modemswitcher and now it's:

Bus 002 Device 002: ID 12d1:1506 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. Modem/Networkcard
[root@linux mk]# dmesg |grep modem
[ 10.017356] usbserial: USB Serial support registered for GSM modem (1-port)
[ 10.017419] option 2-2:1.0: GSM modem (1-port) converter detected
[ 10.017549] usb 2-2: GSM modem (1-port) converter now attached to ttyUSB0
[ 10.017581] option 2-2:1.1: GSM modem (1-port) converter detected
[ 10.017661] usb 2-2: GSM modem (1-port) converter now attached to ttyUSB1

When I'm trying to get it working:

[root@linux mk]# ifconfig usb0 up
usb0: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device

Any ideas?

Okay, I guess it's not a hi-link as supposed to be hmm

//Edit: I reflashed it for hi-link and removed simlock, now it works as expected (device: ethX).

Unfortunately there are only Polish and Russian sites telling how to do that :>
