Teamspeak3 in KDE - microphone problems [SOLVED]

I am in KDE4 (latest version as of now). I chose the GStreamer backend when I installed KDE.
I have a headset, plugged into the rear outlets on my pc.
Sound output works fine.
I installed Teamspeak3 (Linux version, not Wine, but same problem in Windows/Wine version).
I can hear sounds just fine, but it does not register any sound from my microphone.
I went into alsamixer, unmuted everything, turned it up, etc., same problem. There is a 'rear mic' and 'rear mic boost' in the output section of alsamixer. when I turn that up, I can hear the microphone just fine through the headphones, so I know the microphone works and is picking up sound - Teamspeak isn't registering it, though.
The input section of Teamspeak settings shows either default or ALSA for sound system, and whichever I choose, it has two devices under microphone. I've tried all different combinations, no dice.

Any ideas?

Re: Teamspeak3 in KDE - microphone problems [SOLVED]

Apparently I didn't do my due diligence.
Teamspeak3 requires Pulseaudio. I installed it, now everything is working fine, both native and Windows/Wine versions.

Leaving this up in case anyone else runs into the same problems.
