Unity Input and Language Icon

I'm using unity on arch through the unofficial repo here https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/unity but I'm not sure how to disable the input icon on the top panel. There isn't a region and language option in the unity settings, and the text entry setting under keyboard does nothing, and I couldn't find anything in the unity tweak tool or CCSM. I would like to remove it all together because it is that ugly icon with any icon theme other than the default ubuntu-mono one. The only other DE I have installed at the moment is kde4, which I configured none of, and just used as a clean install.
