questions about xf86-video-intel

My specs

diego@diego-laptop:~ » lspci | grep -e VGA -e 3D
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK107M [GeForce GT 650M] (rev ff)

In my Xorg.0.log i see various  issues

[120530.243] (WW) Open ACPI failed (/var/run/acpid.socket) (No such file or directory)

Is neccesary acpid for correct functionality?

pacman -Si acpid
Description : A daemon for delivering ACPI power management events with netlink support

And wiki says
" Desktop environments, such as GNOME, systemd login manager and some extra key handling daemons may implement own event handling schemes, independent of acpid. Running more than one system at the same time may lead to unexpected behaviour, such as suspending two times in a row after one sleep button press. You should be aware of this and only activate desirable handlers."

And this must be ignored? i'm using bumblebee, and works fine, just curious

[121403.251] removing GPU device /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:01.0/0000:01:00.0/drm/card1 /dev/dri/card1

[121403.251] (II) LoadModule: "modesetting"
[121403.251] (WW) Warning, couldn't open module modesetting
[121403.251] (II) UnloadModule: "modesetting"

And this happening in Xorg.0.log (intel) and Xorg.8.log (nVidia), i'm try this but not works

[120530.241] (EE) systemd-logind: failed to get session: PID 32261 does not belong to any known session

regards

Re: questions about xf86-video-intel

What is the output of /etc/rc.d DAEMONS line? What desktop environment are you using right now? I think it'd be safe to ignore it as long as you have another daemon with the same functionality. Read here for more possible information.

Re: questions about xf86-video-intel

@codingman, your information is extremely out of date. /etc/rc.d hasn't existed on Arch for a couple of years now.

@drog, the only thing I would be concerned about is that last logind error. No idea what to do with it since I don't run bumblebee, though.

Re: questions about xf86-video-intel

^Why do I have an /etc/rc.d then?

(It's completely empty but I still had it at installation)

My apologies.

Re: questions about xf86-video-intel

Can you install xfce4 from the official repos? It might help us narrow down the possible issues, running a developemental DE won't help with that.

I'm finding it hard to understand what you're trying to say here.

Re: questions about xf86-video-intel

Yes, the warning about acpid can be ignored.
If you want, you can install it and reboot, check if it's running, check if the warnign is gone. You can keep it or remove it, if it doesn't make any difference.

Check which package does it belong to.
