Increase resolution upon boot, before starting X

How do I get the same resolution at boot, before starting X, that I have in a terminal emulator inside of X? The resolution at boot once was higher but at some point it changed. I think this occurred after I installed video card drivers but I'm not certain.

Re: Increase resolution upon boot, before starting X

I had to get rid of my nvidia proprietary drivers and use nouveau/mesa drivers to get my console to look good. Downside is that I can't play any wine games with great graphics (moot point, I don't have g15 keyboard drivers and the gnome15 site is down). So you'll have to decide if good looking console fonts or gaming is your priority.

You should tell us at least what drivers are you using. If it's nvidia, then Buddlespit is right. Alternatively try using https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Uvesafb

Do you really need higher resolution or e.g. smaller font?

Re: Increase resolution upon boot, before starting X

I'm using nvidia drivers. I mostly want smaller font on the console. If there's a way to change the font that doesn't change the resolution I'd be fine with that.

So this might be a limitation of the nvidia driver itself? Weird.

Reading through uvesafb now...
