Hi, I have a new ASUS F553M laptop and I want to install Arch.
When booting from the archiso, it gets stuck loading udev modules.
I then tried param acpi=off, as suggested in the Beginner's Guide, and it doesn't get stuck, but when it logs into the shell I cannot use the keyboard.
I have searched the wiki and google but I can't find useful information. I have tried other kernel params (nomodeset, noapic, asus-laptop) but they all fail.
I also updated the BIOS and tried again, but it still fails.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do?
Thank you.

I had the same issue from the microcode update a little while ago. In my case I needed to wait till the kernel was updated but I still needed to do some manual setup. Look here to see how to setup your microcode.
Here's a link to my issue that is similar to your's.
Hopefully this helps.

Thanks for the tip. Although that shouldn't be a problem since I've manually updated the BIOS, as I said in the OP. Still, I manually formatted my USB flash as described in https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/US … tion_Media so I could replace the microcode image with a new one, which I created with ABS / makepkg in a virtualized Arch. It didn't make any difference.
