For the past several months I've been using bumblebee to play games on my NVIDIA GPU, and I've always updated my drivers to the latest.
Now I ran a game by mistake without primus/optirun, and it worked! I tried with several GPU-intensive games, and they all worked, on even better fps than with bumblebee. And I do remember not being able to run them at all or barely at low fps on just the intel card.
bbswitch reports that the GPU is off, and there is no nvidia module loaded, but I have the proprietary nvidia drivers installed. How can I check what's going on?
The best solution to a problem is usually the easiest one.

The Intel drivers recently have improved quite a bit and support for Linux with games is always getting better with time, so I'm not surprised about this.
For example, going back to kernel 3.15, when my friend ran Compiz (Desktop Cube and a few other things) on his Intel HD Graphics 3000, it would barely do anything well, and be really sluggish. With 3.18/3.19-rc, the same things with Compiz are now blazing fast.
Claire is fine.
