Hi everyone,
I'm running yaourt -Syua to update my system but for every single AUR package I'm getting the following error:
chromium-pepper-flash 1:16.0.0.257-1 (Wed Oct 8 01:11:48 CEST 2014)
( Unsupported package: Potentially dangerous ! )
makepkg: invalid option '--asroot'
Unable to read PKGBUILD
==> ERROR: unable to update
Any ideas on how to solve it?
I few days ago I had a problem related to the latest pacman update and I ended up reinstalling yaourt "manually".
Thanks!
Dani.
Solution: I was executing yaourt -Syua as root and apparently this option was removed.

What the error message says. That option has been removed.

i don't understand why so many people insist on building packages as 'root.' there's no advantage i can see, only potential disaster. still, here's a way to work around this: http://allanmcrae.com/2015/01/replacing-makepkg-asroot/

Isn't the solution to yaourt not building packages after the pacman 4.2 upgrade to compile package-query (the updated version in the AUR) and yaourt against pacman 4.2?

Claire is fine.
Problems? I have dysgraphia, so clear and concise please.

that's there, too. but after that it still won't build packages with --asroot, which seems to be the OP's problem.

No, that's a solution for a completely different problem than the one the OP has.

@OP: Have you tried building them manually?
The comments page for yaourt claims that it still tries to build packages with the `--asroot` option (!) -- you will have to wait for them to fix it, I think.

Good opportunity to look for an alternative, like cower. Well, unless you have 9000 AUR packages. But then yaourt is the least of your concern....

Yep, you are completely right. My bad. I didn't know --asroot option was removed.
Executing 'yaourt -Syua' using my regular user solved the issue.
Thanks again to all the people that commented on this post
Dani.

@dafero
Better update your signature too
sudo yaourt -Syua
Also, don't forget to mark the thread as [SOLVED].
