Macbook pro temperature

Hi,

I've installed Arch under dual boot on my macbook pro (13" late 2011) and everything seems to be working fine, except for the fans.
The laptop gets really hot when I boot in Arch, especially in the top left corner (where the charger plugs in) gets seriously alarmingly hot. Sometimes when I touch the spot with my finger just to check the temperature it actually hurts. But somehow, even though the laptop is extremely hot, the fans just don't do anything. As soon as I boot back into OSX, they start working. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Re: Macbook pro temperature

You could look at the sensor temperatures and fan rotation speed settings, located somewhere in /sys/devices (on mine its /sys/devices/platform/applesmc.768 )

Re: Macbook pro temperature

Try macfanctld.  But I think fan control is not the solution to the root cause.  While you are at it, might want to explore a few things I wrote about. http://frankshin.com/macbook-air-2013-6 … ix-it-wip/
