today baloo4 has been replaced by the package "baloo-frameworks (5.6.0-1)",
and I notice a bug : it's impossible to disable baloo, at each boot baloo runs and slows down the boot process,
in KDE4 systemsettings I set baloo options to not scan my /home, but this setting is not respected by baloo
how to disable baloo-frameworks ?

I have already these settings in ~/.kde4/config/baloofilerc
and the same settings can be set in the KDE systemsettings GUI,
what I see: at each boot the process "baloo_file" tries to scan my harddisk, the hardidsk led activity blinks a long time,
the problem has occured today with "baloo-frameworks (5.6.0-1)" package, before this upgrade I didn't have problem with "baloo4" package,
so there is a change with "baloo-frameworks (5.6.0-1)"

balooctl disableLast edited by arojas (2015-01-28 18:08:46)

here is the workaround :
- copy the file ~/.kde4/share/config/baloofilerc to ~/.config
because KF5 applications ( like baloo ) store their settings in the directory ~/.config,
that means that KDE4 GUI systemsettings is useless for the KF5 version of baloo

There is no workaround needed. As I told you here and in the bug report, "balooctl disable" will disable indexing

but for people who have a specific configuration of baloo they probably need this workaround
