Steam just created a new folder in home and seemed to remove all games

I just logged into Steam, first strange thing, it asked me again for a code verification (like new computer, which this is not)

then, I go in to see the games, and all of them are removed.

The old folder seems to be there ~/.steam I don't know if I can copy in the games

any idea how to fix this that doesn't need to download all my games again??

How about contacting Steam? Why would this be in any way related to Arch?

I am using Arch Linux, where all this happened.

Re: Steam just created a new folder in home and seemed to remove all games

Steam sees "a new computer" with each installation.

There is an UUID generated for each installation and each steam folder (where the app itself resides).

Recently there have been some "improvements" on Steam which affected some users (I could not log into my account for one day), maybe those are the culprits.

You should really contact Valve (the steam creators) as this is not a specific Arch Linux issue.

This would explain my own issue with losing my entire Steam library.

Do you have anything under ~/.local/share/Steam? In particular, what is the output of

du -sh ~/.local/share/Steam

Have you tried closing steam and starting it again?
I had that happen to me a few times and after closing steam and starting it again, the games are back.

Re: Steam just created a new folder in home and seemed to remove all games

Same thing happened to me, a few days ago.

I though steam had changed its directory from .local/share/Steam to ~/Steam, so I removed everything from both locations (plus the .steam and two symlink on home dir), ran steam and downloaded all the games, (steam defaulted to .local/share/Steam again...)

And the next day, same thing happened!

Removed every trace of Steam again, reinstalled again, downloaded all the games, closed steam, and this time I made a symlink (ln -s ./local/share/Steam), been working fine since then smile
