xpdf upgrade?

pacman -Syu
...
:: xpdf: local (3.01-3) appears to be newer than repo (extra/3.01.pl2-1)
:: Above packages will be skipped.  To manually upgrade use 'pacman -S <pkg>'

Why the updated xpdf packaged cannot be upgraded automatically? Is it a bug or how to deal with patched packages in such cases?

Regards

Have you switched mirrors lately? It's not anything dangerous, xpdf will be upgraded when it's needed, it only means that you have a newer version of xpdf than that in the respiratory, that might come from switching to a mirror which gets updates later.

No, i have never changed mirrors and when checking cvs changelog, xpdf 3.01pl-1 version seems to be newer than xpdf 3.01-3...

I have never met _pl_ packages before so I don't know what to do with it?

I haven't met pl packeges before either - but if xpdf works fine it's nothing to worry about, run a "pacman -S xpdf" if you want to update it anyway.

Re: xpdf upgrade?

3.01.pl2-1 is the latest patch (it's offers some security fixes) and the numbering is confusing pacman.  You can ignore the message and go ahead and install it if you want to have the latest version on your box.
