Everytime any sort of soun is played on my fresh arch linux install, the volume is maxed out. When I turn the volume down, the volume stays where I set it until the sound stops, then the volume is set to maximum the next time any sort of audio is played. Any help regarding this issue, and my ears would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

You need to give us more information...what DE/WM are you using, what audio software is installed, have you searched logs/etc.
