Hey all,
I've been messing around with Arch Linux after running an Ubuntu server for quite awhile. I'm having a few issues with my battery life and also really abnormal temperatures (nothing extremely hot but mac doesnt get anywhere near as hot) but I'm assuming its the reason for my battery life. I'm running a mid 2012 Macbook Pro, I've done a lshw and put it in a pastebin
If someone could help me out it would be muchly appreciated.
Regards,
Emkay.
PS.The command sensors is giving no names to the sensors like so sensors output

There are a few different power management tools for laptops that you should look into. You should be able to find that information easily by searching the wiki.
If you are using Yosemite, there is a known issue that you can read about here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ma … g_high_CPU
I think a recent Yosemite upgrade might have fixed this but if you are not dual booting then you'll have to read up on the issue for other ways to fix.
Edit: you should read through that entire page if you haven't already. it includes a section on power management. Those general recommendations fixed my battery and temperature problems on an MBA.
